            <lg type="stanza">
                <l>WHEN we that are the bitten flower and fruit</l>
                <l>Of time's achievement are undone between</l>
                <l>The blight above, where blight has always been,</l>
                <l>And the old worm of evil at the root,</l>
                <l>We shall not have to crumble destitute</l>
                <l>Of recompense, or measure our chagrin;</l>
                <l>We shall be dead, and so shall not be seen</l>
                <l>Amid the salvage of our disrepute.</l>
            </lg>
            
            <lg type="stanza">
               <l>And when we are all gone, shall mightier seed</l> 
                <l>And scions of a warmer spring put forth</l>
                <l>A bloom and fruitage of a larger worth</l>
                <l>Than ours? God save the garden, if by chance,</l>
                <l>Or by approved short sight, more numerous weeds</l>
                <l>And weevils be the next inheritance!</l>
           </lg>
