            <p>I was at <orgName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Collet">the Collets</orgName> all yesterday – &amp; found your letter when
               I came home – &amp; sent word on to <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#MissAlderman">Miss Alderman</persName> at the
                  <orgName ref="CraikSiteIndex.sml#Western">Western's</orgName> –
             – She thinks they reach <placeName ref="CraikSiteIndex#Rothesay">Rothesay</placeName> today – So if you get a P.C  – 
               for the sister to meet her at the <placeName ref="CraikSiteIndex#Ivanhoe">Ivanhoe</placeName> – you will be able
               to show her the cottage – &amp; all hospitality. – I know you will manage all quite
               well. All your labours have been most satisfactory. – You shall certainly go on
               keeping house! &amp; being mistress. – &amp; I'll be a visitor – for I am awfully
               tired – </p>
            <p> –  I leave tomorrow at 8.13 – a.m – meet <persName
                  ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#CraikGeorge">papa</persName> at <placeName
                  ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#KingsCross">King's Cross</placeName> – &amp; we sleep at
                  <placeName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#GreenhillTerrace">Greenhill Terrace</placeName> – go to <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Lovell">Lovells</persName> on
               Saturday – To <placeName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#GeorgeSquare">George Square</placeName> to afternoon tea &amp;
               <placeName ref="CraikSiteIndex#Duddingston">Duddingston</placeName> to late tea on Sunday – &amp; Monday morning oh
               be joyful! – we shall start west – &amp; come in by the <placeName ref="CraikSiteIndex#Ivanhoe">
                  Ivanhoe.</placeName> – I never was so thankful to get away for a rest. – Dear
                  <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#MiersAnnie">Aunt Annie</persName> still goes as
               well. – <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#LadyCaroline">Lady Caroline</persName> died on Tuesday morning – I am going to
               see <persName>Rosalind</persName> this evening after I have done my packing. – I
               think I have got through without forgetting anything – but without
               you it has been a <unclear reason="illegible">serious</unclear> business. – No <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#KeeneEllen">Mrs.
                  Keene</persName> – no <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Bertha">Bertha</persName>  –  no
                     <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#RankinJessie">Jessie</persName> – I never felt so forlorn. But
               it will soon be over – </p>
            <p> – &amp; I shall see <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#CraikDorothy">my
                  child</persName> again – &amp; be content –</p>
            <p> – Love to <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Margery">Margery.</persName> We
               will not talk of the 4th July – till it comes – I went to the <orgName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Harris">
                  Harris's</orgName> – but <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#HarrisKatherine">Kath</persName> is quite impossible. – There
               has been no word from the <orgName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Pike">Pikes</orgName>. – I am glad
               you asked <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#StoddartMary">Mary Stoddart</persName> &amp; <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#MiersEllen">
                  <unclear reason="illegible">Ellen</unclear></persName> – to tea – Thank <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#StoddartMary">Miss
                     Stoddart</persName> for all kindness – <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#MissAlderman">Miss

Thursday – 14 Aug August /85 My darling child

I was at the Collets all yesterday – & found your letter when I came home – & sent word on to Miss Alderman at the Western's – – She thinks they reach Rothesay today – So if you get a P.C – for the sister to meet her at the Ivanhoe – you will be able to show her the cottage – & all hospitality. – I know you will manage all quite well. All your labours have been most satisfactory. – You shall certainly go on keeping house! & being mistress. – & I'll be a visitor – for I am awfully tired –
