                    Craik’s spelling, punctuation, underlining, superscripts, abbreviations, additions

                    line, which we have silently emended. Where Craik uses a non-standard spelling, we
                    have encoded both her spelling and the standard Oxford English Dictionary spelling to
                    faciliate searching. The long s is not encoded.</p>

                        brother</rs> in <placeName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Australia"
                        >Australia</placeName>. Will you think me very unconscionable if I were to
                    ask you for the same? – If so, tell me.</p>
                <p>How is <title corresp="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Olive">Olive</title> doing? – Pretty
                    well – so far as I heard in <placeName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Edinburgh"
                        >Edinburgh</placeName> – whence I have just arrived.</p>
                <p>I did not answer your last – but I quite agreed in its truth. However, we will
                    hope yet for the best as regards both novels – for both our sakes.</p>

18 Camden St North Nov November 30th /50 1850 My dear Sir

I do so wish to send out a copy of “the Ogilvies” & “Olive” to my brother in Australia. Will you think me very unconscionable if I were to ask you for the same? – If so, tell me.

How is Olive doing? – Pretty well – so far as I heard in Edinburgh – whence I have just arrived.

I did not answer your last – but I quite agreed in its truth. However, we will hope yet for the best as regards both novels – for both our sakes.

I have begun the third –
