                <p>Here is <measure type="currency">£3</measure> of your own money – pay your
                    innocent little debts at once. Say if you want more for your journey – If you
                    come with <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#PilkingtonGeorge">George</persName>
                    he shall have the additional money, as I know he would not come 1st class for
                    himself – Perhaps he would pay ><hi rend="underline">everything</hi> additional
                    &amp; I will settle with him afterwards. — I am very glad <persName
                        ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#PilkingtonAlexander">Alexander</persName> is better
                    – as you said nothing, I was afraid to ask about him knowing you don’t like it.
                    — Poor <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#CraikDorothy"/>lammie – it will indeed
                    be dreadful not to have him beside you — &amp; I feel for you so much that no
                    one will be more glad than I when you are “united.” — I shall never hinder, when
                    he can manage it. — <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Katherine">Kath</persName>
                    will have told you she chose your dress – It really is very pretty draping – if
                    only it were not so perfectly heavy. – I myself could not walk in such a skirt
                    at all – &amp; it must be injurious. But I say nothing. — the fashion may soon
                    change. – <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Katherine">Katherine</persName>
                    considered it “light”!! — What you girls must endure! — We are enjoying <del
                        rend="strikethrough"><placeName ref="CraikSiteIndex#AlderleyEdge">Alderley
                            Edge</placeName></del><add place="above">
                        <placeName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xlm#Cheltenham">Cheltenham</placeName></add>
                    very much. They are all so nice – boys much improved and <persName
                        ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#DobellEva">Eva</persName> charming – She is always
                    talking about “going to <placeName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Ireland"/>Ireland to
                    see her godmother when she is married!” — Did <persName
                        ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#LewinHarold">Harold Lewin</persName> appear? — He as
                    well as <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Katherine">Kath</persName> will bring
                    word to <placeName ref="CraikSiteIndex#Shortlands">Shortlands</placeName> of
                    what a sweet home you are going to have. — Ask <persName
                        ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#PilkingtonWilhelmina">Mrs. Pilkington</persName> if
                    I should run down to see dear <persName>Aunt Emmie</persName> for a day, before
                    October ends. — I would go on to sleep at <placeName
                        ref="CraikSiteIndex.xlm#Salton">Salton</placeName>, so as not to trouble her
                    with visitors but I <hi rend="underline">should</hi> like to see her. — you
                    might come too. — I think I shall have to go with <persName
                        ref="CraikSiteIndex#CraikGeorge">Papa</persName> to <placeName
                        ref="CraikSiteIndex#AlderleyEdge">Alderley Edge</placeName> – the end of
                        <unclear>this</unclear> month. We are going to <persName
                        ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#MiersEllen">Ellen Mier’s</persName> wedding on the
                        24<hi rend="superscript">th</hi> – We had <persName
                        ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#WolleyEmily">Mrs. Wolley</persName> with us daily
                    while we were at home – it does her good. </p>
                <p>There have been letters from <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#PatonJosephNoel"
                        >Sir Noel</persName> to <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex#CraikGeorge"
                        >Papa</persName>. <persName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#PatonDonaldNoel"
                        >Donald</persName> has been very ill for a month at <placeName
                        ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Arran">Arran</placeName> – they are <hi
                        rend="underline">all</hi> there — at <placeName
                        ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#SannoxHouse">Sannox house</placeName> – the weather
                    has been frightful, they say. I suppose <persName
                        ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#PatonFrederickNoel">Fred</persName> came back from
                        <placeName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Ireland"/>Ireland — but I have heard
                    nothing of or from him these two months. — We went to <placeName
                        ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Tewkesbury">Tewkesbury</placeName> on Wednesday – to
                        <placeName ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Gloucester">Gloucester</placeName> today
                    – tomorrow we go to dine and sleep with the <orgName
                        ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Playne">Playnes</orgName>, near <placeName
                        ref="CraikSiteIndex.xml#Amberley">Amberley</placeName> – &amp; Saturday we
                    go home. – Let us know your final decision about coming. – You will have to pay

Cheltenham Sep September 15 – /87 1887 My darling child

Here is £3 of your own money – pay your innocent little debts at once. Say if you want more for your journey – If you come with George he shall have the additional money, as I know he would not come 1st class for himself – Perhaps he would pay >everything additional & I will settle with him afterwards. — I am very glad Alexander is better – as you said nothing, I was afraid to ask about him knowing you don’t like it. — Poor lammie – it will indeed be dreadful not to have him beside you — & I feel for you so much that no one will be more glad than I when you are “united.” — I shall never hinder, when he can manage it. — Kath will have told you she chose your dress – It really is very pretty draping – if only it were not so perfectly heavy. – I myself could not walk in such a skirt at all – & it must be injurious. But I say nothing. — the fashion may soon change. – Katherine considered it “light”!! — What you girls must endure! — We are enjoying Alderley Edge Cheltenham very much.
