My dear Madam
People writing kind letters must be glad to know how welcomely they come: – I had
been very dull one day for of all things, waiting
patiently is hardest – especially since
my
brother’s health &
hope depends upon his getting work. Tonight I feel as if life was a little less
difficult to bear & to be good
in. I am very thankful to Mr.
Kingsley & you –
I have long looked up to him as one of our great men –
but that is nothing. I feel he is good. he helps one to be good. It is certainly
very superfluous to say this to his wife – But I have – a
certain satisfaction in it – it seems like acknowledging a debt which is
absolutely unpayable –
You will get a new novel next year – if please God my health holds up to finish
it in reasonable time. I am very glad you like my books.
Will you say to your husband how much I thank him – & Lord Robert
Montague
Montagu
likewise. Whether or
no
not
any good accrues to my brother –
Believe me
Very sincerely yours
DMMulock
